Harper's Bazaar
Somewhat off the beaten track, Sifnos is an island for connoisseurs.
It is not on any of the typical island-hoppers' ferry lines, nor is it known for its beaches (though the south coast has several enchanting ones), so the sunburnt masses who make certain Cycladic islands unbearable in the summer stay away. Instead, it attracts its own pleasant crowd of regulars - artists and intellectuals, rather than party animals and beach bums - who appreciate the uniqueness of the island, its landscape, architecture, traditional vibe, pottery workshops and famously good food.
Feel part of that crowd once, you will be back again and again.
